Masks:
A person who enters or remains in an indoor public place (including all public areas of a hotel) must wear a mask in a manner that covers their mouth, nose and chin without gapping. Business operators must ensure that every person who is not wearing a mask is given a reminder to do so as soon as possible.
Exemptions are in place for:
- A person who is consuming food or drink
- A person who needs to establish their identity (i.e. showing ID in a bar or beer vendor)
- A person who is swimming or engaged in other athletic activities. (For hotel gyms, this means masks must be worn as guests enter and exit the gym but can be removed while they exercise.)
- A musician or performer at licensed premises or at a performing arts venue, or an announcer or broadcaster at a sporting event
- Someone receiving a service that requires removal of the mask
- A child under 5 years of age
- A person with a medical condition or disability that prevents them from safely wearing a mask
Staff can remove their masks while they are in an area of the business where members of the public do not normally have access, or when they are located behind a non-permeable physical barrier.
